About This Data Online Course

The U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community have set the goal of becoming artificial intelligence-ready enterprises. To do so, it is imperative that their workforces—both military and civilian—and personnel from contractors supporting their missions have the right level of knowledge and skills to leverage AI solutions on the job.

A critical aspect of utilizing the outputs of AI is how the insights gained from these solutions are shared and resonate with customers and other audiences.

How the findings are presented visually absolutely matters and their importance cannot be understated. This isn’t just “window dressing”—visuals help to share data-driven stories that “strike a chord” with customers in a variety of situations.

Remember: Data cannot effectively tell a story or provide insights on its own.

This course walks you through various visualization options to best share your data insights with different customer personas. We also cover the “dos” and “don’ts” to consider when designing data products to ensure they are not misleading—along with ensuring they are visually compelling.

You will learn how to create effective visualizations using data, how to evaluate others’ visualizations and tell powerful stories with data in support of decision making.

What You Will Learn

  • Demonstrate the ability to structure data for visualization
  • Explain data visualization through an end-user perspective
  • Create data visualizations to maximize end user understanding via a structured design process
  • Identify misleading visual representations of data
  • Provide critical evaluation of peer-generated visualization and suggestions for improvement

This course is aligned with DoD strategies.
