About This Data Science Online Course

The U.S. Department of Defense is evolving to an artificial intelligence-ready enterprise. To accomplish this ambitious goal, the DoD workforce—both military and civilian—must possess the correct level of knowledge and skills to leverage AI solutions on the job and in support of mission requirements.

The lifeblood of any AI solution is data.

Immense amounts of data are generated hourly, daily, weekly and beyond that—if managed and utilized correctly—can enable and support greater mission efficiency and effectiveness. To harness the power of your organization’s data, you must possess basic knowledge on how to properly curate, organize and wrangle data so the information can be properly input for analysis by AI and machine learning solutions.

In this online course, you will gain a solid understanding of the data management process, how to prepare data for use and how to interpret outputs for data-driven, informed decisions.

What You Will Learn

  • Understand the major concepts and tools in data management
  • Understand the importance of curating, organizing and wrangling
  • Describe the data lifecycle
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage data according to its lifecycle
  • Demonstrate how to explain uncertainty, causality and data quality—and the ways they related to each other
  • Understand how to predict the consequences of data use/misuse and when more data may be needed for proper analysis
